What Will Be Said Of You
I know death is not a subject that people like to talk about however, it is a subject that will be addressed sooner or later in everyone's life. I went to a Funeral on Friday of a man that had been a Pastor for 53 years in the same church and had been working in ministry for 70 years total. I was in awe of the accolades that this man received. The church was able to accommodate 300-500 people and the church was packed. The flower arrangements were elegant and covered the front of the church and this did not include plants. It was truly a celebration of one man's life. As I sat there listening to his eldest son preach his eulogy, my first though was, how in the world is he able to do that? My second thought was, what will people say about me when I die?
There was not one person that had a negative comment to make about this man, (not that I was expecting it) but everyone there was in agreement with how nurturing, loving, and giving this man was. Not to mention his teaching and preaching ability, the wisdom that he used when giving advice, how well he could correct you in love, and last but certainly not least, how much he absolutely adored his wife (that was left to mourn).
Again, I thought about my life and some of the things that I have done and the people I have met (some still around and some not) and it made me truly wonder, what would be said of me in my passing? What about you? Have you ever wondered what your friends, associates, acquaintances, family members (those that are close and those not so close), neighbors, or even your co-workers would have to say about you? Does it even matter to you?
Just a random thought, as we travel through life toward the end of our journey, what kind of impression will we leave on others?
